Publications
IAS produces three outstanding scientific journals: Sedimentology, The Depositional Record and Basin Research (co-published with EAGE). It also publishes thematic books, field guides and newsletters.
Grants
Tailored research grants are available for PhD students and early-career postdoctoral researchers, as well as fieldwork support for Masters students, institutional grants for geoscience departments in low income countries, and travel grants to help student members afford to attend IAS meetings.
Events
The IAS holds flagship international conferences every year – the regionally-focused International Meetings of Sedimentology and every four years the global International Sedimentological Congress. IAS members enjoy reduced fees at these, and the Association also sponsors many smaller thematic meetings.
Awards
The IAS honours its members who have made substantial contributions to the field of sedimentology with its highly distinguished Sorby Medal, the prestigious Johannes Walther Medal, Early Career Scientist Award, Sun Shu Research Prizes.

Student Members
Research and travel grants for undergraduate, MSc and PhD students studying at a higher education institute, international summer schools, and free online access to IAS’s complete publications archive.
Ordinary Members
Free online access to all IAS journals and books, research grants for early career scientists, special lecture tours, international institutional grants, North Sea core samples for teaching, opportunities for meeting sponsorship.
Sponsored Members
Opportunity for sedimentologists with limited financial resources or other barriers to ordinary membership to get free membership for a year funded through the Association’s Friendship Scheme.
